Copy Parameters Values Internally tool in the Copy drop-down helps copy element parameter values internally (within the same element).
After the button is clicked, it asks for picking a family instance, then a dialog as follows will be popped up.
Scope
- Entire Model: to indicate all elements in the entire model will be concerned
- Active View: to indicate elements in the active view will be concerned
- To Select: to select some target elements of concern
Targets
- Current Family Instance: to indicate the target is the same as the source family instance
- Of the Same Symbol: to indicate targets have the same symbol as the one of the source
- Of the Same Family: to indicate targets have the same family as the one of the source
- Of the Same Category: to indicate targets have the same category as the one of the source
- All Instances in Scope: to indicate all instances in scope will be concerned
Source Parameter
- to list out source parameters which are named as [Name][Group][Type]
Target Parameter
- to list out target parameters of the same type as the source on left.
Buttons
- OK: to close the dialog and make changes accordingly
- Cancel: to dismiss the dialog without doing anything to the model
If the OK button is clicked, changes will be made accordingly. An information box will finally report what have been done.
In this example, the value of the Unique ID will be copied to the Comments parameter. In case a door instance is selected, all door instances (six in the current view as reported) will have the same Comments value as their Unique ID one.
