All buttons of the Family Model tools will be enabled only when a family model is made current in the Revit window.
The Material Transporter in the Material Organizer command group of Family Model tools of Revit Family Organizer allows users to transport materials from the current family model to a few others.
The first step is to select the materials that should be transported from the current model to others.
The second is to specify what models to transport the materials to, either through clicking the Transport button or simply confirm in the same Transport dialog after the OK button being clicked.
After the dialog is dismissed, the chosen materials will be transporting from the current family model to the chosen other family models that are also open in Revit.
In fact, a lot of things are going on during the process, and can be in many different ways, which can be controlled by a simple setting in the single Settings command/dialog of the same Family Model tools.
When materials being copied, transported, exported, or imported, four options are available as can be seen above.
- KeepExistingifNameConflictsDuringCopying: keeps the existing material if the name already exists.
- OverwriteExistingifNameConflictsDuringCopying: overwrites the existing material if the name already exists.
- RenameExistingifNameConflictsDuringCopying: renames the existing material if the name already exists, based on the suffix as given.
- GiveNewNameExistingifNameConflictsDuringCopying: gives a new name to the new copied material if the name already exists, based on the suffix as given.
All of these can be exercised in the free trail edition of Revit Family Organizer.
